Profile of Bruno Dutot

Dutot

Artwork DutotI. Born 19 October 1962, in Cherbourg, Normandy, France. His father, a Berber from North Africa, was an army officer.

His mother, a Norman, raised 8 children. Bruno is the youngest of the family.

The desire for painting came early in Bruno's childhood; with affirmation during college. Training continued at the "Beaux-arts" school of Art studies in Caen for two years where his first major works came to life.

His debut exhibitions were in Montpellier in the summer of 1983.

His first exhibition outside France was at the Washington DC Gallery, P21 Dupont Circle in 1985.

In the USA Bruno was introduced to a larger meaning of "Art" in a more divers cultural environment.

Mrs Gaujard the director of the gallery found his paintings and particularly his characters daring for life.

"The characters' curves were related to life which are moments of reality" i.e. The Crowd 1992.

Then a year long stay on the Cote d'Azur had significant influence and here he produced first his well known series of work where elegant human forms are incorporated into beautiful marine and country settings, often using Expressionism to remarkable effect.

Living among Paddington's busy street life; Bruno was able to enjoy his new and incredible diversity and to become a firm convert to life in the South Pacific.

In 1993, Bruno headed off to Tahiti (Moorea) - "to find Gauguin's roots and to soak in the special atmosphere of the island".

Increasingly he was now using acrylic, often painting with his fingers on canvas to create people or animals that bring reality with full deep colour and movement.

He longed to be back in the South Pacific and left for New Zealand late 1994...

In 1995, to inspire and exhibit his paintings her returned to France and Spain. He also visited Italy to catch the famous light of Tuscany.
